ja ja.. slamat tinggal amsterdam panas.. selamat tinggal rok dan kaos.. selamat tinggal warm sunshine
dah dua hari ini, teman lama kita, hujan, jadi sering berkunjung "hi alll.. im baaackkk!!", katanya :D
walo masih rada mood2an, berenti bentar, trus lanjut, terus berenti lagi, hari ini ujan d amsterdam lumayan deres. well besides org2 yang jadi rushing around, i didnt really see any frowns from other ppl's faces on the streets. so i guess the rain is pretty welcomed, if not pretty ignored here.. hehe
for me the rain is like an old acquaintance. u'll nvr know when u bump into them in your life course. sometimes a pleasant thing, sometimes not. myb im almost indifferent to it, but myb sometimes not.
tp tadi cuek aja sih gw jalan d tengah kota, keujanan, basah.. yg rasanya enak, dah lama ga keujanan..
temen gw juga pernah bikin cerpen ttg ujan gtu. ya crita roman campur filosofis, ttg si cowo yg suka ujan2an, his awe to the rain, dan si cewe yg sebel ma ujan. ujan tu part of life kok. ya i cant be poetic like my friend there. but i more or less agree with the guy :D
ya klo ujan, pke payung. klo ga bawa payung, salah sendiri.. carilah tempat berteduh , lari, ato just walk n enjoy the rain :D (thats what i did, hehe) bole smbil nyanyi juga..
its not the end of the world.
Sangatta was derived from two words "Seng" yg artinya kucing, dan "Atta" yg artinya sungai.
...
XD
well thats what my Geography teacher told me when I was at the 2nd grade of Elementary School. I cant remember most of the story :p hehe..
oh ya, i think im gonna start to put my reading list here again. Setelah sekian lama not touching non-FD books, dan jg gr2 emg lg gencar2ny bekerja :p bbrp minggu yg lalu i started with Ann Rice's Vampire Lestat. tp baru setengahnya (LESTAT'S A BI! i wonder if tom cruise is one as well, hehe.. ya stelah gw baca2 tu novel, emg panteslah klo si TC yg meranin dia). Baru sampe si Lestat yg bersama ibunya (yg ia jadikan vampir) berusaha melarikan diri dari 'Queen of the Damned' (Aaliyah! hehe..) dan the Damneds nya dan their angelic-faced leader, smbil berusaha nyelamatin Nicolas (kekasihnya si Lestat).
trus ma pacar saya (hore.. now i dare to mention 'a boyfriend' here) dikasih The Drifters by James A. Michener, which I think is a good one as well. Storytellingnya unik, and he succeeded in converting the flow of the story according to the different characters portrayed in the book. Gw jg yg ini baru baca smpe chapter 4. Totalnya ad 12 chapter dan dari satu sampai enam tu nyeritain the characters in the story, yg zo wie zo life pathnya tu bersinggungan di sebuah kota kecil di Spanyol, yg pantainya bagus, multi-cultural (ppl from northern europe, western europe, ppl from the states yg avoid wamil), bernama Torremolinos (kinda like tropical Amsterdam, maybe :D).
Next, td saya ke AKO, beli kartu ultah buat housemate saya yg ultah ga tau kapan. tp rasanya udh lewat soalnya 2 hari yg lalu dia bawa tart slagroom mocca ke rumah :p so i assume that day should be her birthday. Udh gtu sekalian make boekenbon hasil kerja d AEC last umm October? my last boekenbon..
beli: Night by Elie Wiesel (udh agak penasaran ma ni buku smenjak dia jd buku terpilihnya Oprah's Book Club). Tipis sih.. cuma 120 halaman.
Br sempet baca 11 halaman pertama (dan 14 halaman preface + foreword; i always read 'em whenever its available. make it easier to understand what kind of person the author is.)
For me the Holocaust/Auschwitz tragedy has always been very distant. Ya buat gw, org Indonesia pun punya penderitaannya sendiri, blm lagi compared sama sekarang, those ppl yg had to face unnecessary death cuma gara2 perang, yg mostly are caused by the ego of those ppl that we call "Leader of Nation". Plus, waktu baca The Diary of Anne Frank, ya... emg ada rasa kasian sih.. cuma kadang karena itu Diary sih ya.. of a teenager. jd.. buat gw kurang nyantol aja. Elie lbih berumur dan bukunya yg Night ini nyeritain pengelaman dia, the thoughts and lessons derived from it, renungan2nya dia, dan tujuan dia knp dia nulis itu. Dia ngerasa jd witness of a big crime of humanity. and he believes that every witness hv to testify. thERefore, Night would be his testimonial of the Holocaust (yg unsurprisingly banyak di-deny sama org d US, anti-semites, ayahnya Mel Gibson, hehe, etc.)
Second book that i bought was "Exteremely Loud & Incredibly Close" karangan Jonathan Safran Foer (pronounced "four:). Rasany pertama kali tau ni buku wktu lg liat bagian 'book review'nya the Guardian, dah gt d Newsweek edisi August 7 juga disebut2 sbg salah satu karya post-9/11 yg related or inspired by the tragedy.
Flipping through the pages of the book, sy berkesimpulan, "wah ini buku lucu.." ya ada gambar2nya gt, dan d bbrp pages typography-nya diubah2. Kata bungkus buku yg paling belakang, ni buku ngisahin seorg anak yg berusaha nyari "sesuatu" milik Bapaknya. Jd inget Until I Find You-nya John Irving - the search of a son for the remnants of his father, yg seringnya leads to the self-discovery of the son.
Ingat Capt. Jack Sparrow? he found a DRAWING of a key.
If we don't have the key, we can't open whatever it is we don't have that it unlocks. So what purpose would be served in finding whatever need be unlocked, which we don't have, without first having found the key what unlocks it?
ya tapi si Oskar (the boy in this story) ga perlu bertaruh nyawa sama Capt. Davy Jones buat nyari tau dimana kunci itu soalnya he already FOUND the key. Well bukan found kali ya, kan soalny klo finding, kan berarti dia sebelumnya do the act of SEARCHING. He got the key incidentally.
Lalu apakah "sesuatu" di novel itu???
saya juga ndak tau :p
tp rasanya buku ini menarik, lets hope that it doesnt contain a still-beating heart :D
9.30 pm i closed the shop, tdinya sih pengen beli payung €5-an yg dijual di situ. tp abis :( hiks..
cuma untungnya emang si ujan ga turun lagi sih wktu prjalanan pulang sy k rumah.
im expecting him to come tomorrow dan hari2 berikutnya dlm minggu ini (ya.. bgitulah mnurut weather forecastnya). n i also expect myself to find an umbrella tomorrow. so i can enjoy the rain without getting (really) wet :)
Now i can feel warm aura begins radiating from you Ulm ;-)
